Sandy Zorn

Sandy Zorn our new Pastoral Associate, is a native of Ohio, born and raised in Massillon (football country) where she met her husband Bill in high school.  They have been married 38 years and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.  Their daughter Michelle, her husband Steve and their daughter Megan live in Toledo.  Their son Bill Jr., his wife Sarai and their son Billy III live in Medina, and their youngest daughter Shannon lives in California.  Shannon will be married at St. John Neumann in September to Len Hyde who is also from California.   Sandy’s Mom Bette lives in Massillon and her father Al is deceased (1991).  She has a sister in Scottsdale, AZ and a brother in Columbus, OH.

Bill and Sandy have made many career moves during their married life, and Sandy found that becoming involved in ministry in the parishes where she worshipped helped her to adjust and become part of the community in which she lived.  When her children were younger, Sandy taught CCD and was also a CCD Co-ordinator for grades 1-6.  Sandy and her husband Bill co-chaired the Prayer Network Ministry for RENEW for their parish in Sylvania, OH, and they were also commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers. In addition they have served for many years as leaders of Charismatic Prayer Groups in Sylvania and Cleveland.  During this time Sandy enrolled in various healing courses in the Detroit area and was later discerned to be part of a healing ministry for her parish and diocese.  As a member of the healing ministry, Sandy helped direct Inner Healing Retreats, Days of Healing, Formation Days and Workshops at various retreat centers in Fremont, Carey, Tiffin, Sylvania and Cleveland.  She also served on a diocesan healing ministry corps group which helped form guidelines for the healing ministry.

After many years of study Sandy was certified as a Pastoral Minister on January 21, 2001, at St John the Evangelist Cathedral.  It was a very moving Mass and ceremony with Bishop Pilla, and she noted that it was one of the most exciting days of her life where she was surrounded by her family, friends and Staff from St. John Neumann.  Now Sandy is involved in the Healing Ministry in our parish which includes the Prayer Teams, Healing Masses, The Road to Emmaus (Inner Healing Retreat), the Intercessory Prayer Group and helping with the first Friday Anointing Mass which is held quarterly.  She is also the liaison for the Heart of Living Water Prayer Group and helps with the monthly first Friday Charismatic Mass.

Sandy’s involvement with healing began 21 years ago in Cleveland and is still continuing.  “Healing is a big part of my life, beginning first with my own healing and then flowing into ministry that the Lord had prepared for me.  I truly praise and thank Jesus for the honor and the opportunity to serve him and his people through this powerful ministry of love.”

Sandy insists she does have a life outside of ministry.   She enjoys traveling, family get togethers, theater, parties, dances, baseball games and high school football, especially the Massillon Tigers.

“I am very happy to be ministering at St. John Neumann with so many wonderful people who are so ‘on fire’ with the Holy Spirit.  I cannot imagine being anywhere else, and I thank God for placing me here.”
