Neumann Small Faith Communities These days you’d think the last thing you might be looking for is “another meeting to attend.” However, in spite of your busy schedule we urge you to consider joining a Neumann Small Faith Community What is a Small Faith Community? A Small Faith Community is a group of between 4 and 8 people who meet on a regular basis to share their faith. It is an opportunity to get to know fellow parishioners on a deeper level. It is an opportunity to grow spiritually. It is a “mini-church” within the larger parish structure. Is this a prayer group or a Bible study group? Although there is prayer and Scripture reading in the Small Faith Community meetings, they are not the central focus. The purpose of a Small Faith Community is to explore how faith is perceived and acted out in our lives. We learn from one another the influence of God’s message in our lives. We get to know how God is played out in the lives of other people and, with their help, how to recognize God’s movement in our own. What kind of time commitment does a Small Faith Community require? For the first 11 weeks the Small Faith Communities meet weekly as they follow the program in a book called Come As You Are. After those first 11 weeks most groups decide to continue meeting twice a month. The meetings are held in the homes of the members, although if you cannot host a meeting you don’t have to. Meetings last between 2 and 2 ½ hours and are scheduled at the time most convenient for the members, either evening or during the day. Who can join a Small Faith Community? Any parishioner who wants to meet with others to share faith may join. If you are not sure if a Small Faith Community is for you, try it and see. Members of Small Faith Communities are married, single, young, old, long time parishioners, or brand new to the parish. You may join a group together with a friend, or by yourself. You will definitely make new friends in the group. How do I get started? If you are interested in becoming a member of a Small Faith Community, you may call the rectory at 440 238-1770.
